Operation Adopt-A-Soldier Furniture Delivery

Top Shot Golf Tournament 2019

CIVOC Board Members participated in the 2nd Top Shot Golf and Gun Range Tournament. Proceeds of the tournament benefited the Nicholas Xiarhos Foundation and Heroes In Transition. President Bill Burke, Treasurer Bill Blaisdell, Secretary Dwayne Turmelle, and Member-At-Large Joe Taylor are pictured.

2nd Annual Salute to the Military Dinner Show

CIVOC’s 2nd Annual Salute to the Military Dinner Show hosted by actor, comic, and television host Wayne Soares was held on 6 September 2019 at the prestigious Willowbend Country Club. Wayne’s unique style of comedy coupled with the beautiful singing voice of former Broadway singer Debra Toscano is very reminiscent of Bob Hope’s shows. The event which had 135 people in attendance raised $14,000 overall. The Services Auction portion of the night raised $4,300. Services that were bought included:

5 families use of food pantry for a year= $1,500

2 , 6 months food pantry = $300

2 1x counseling sessions = $100

2 2x Counseling sessions = $200

2 3x Counseling sessions = $300

2 4X Counseling Sessions = $400

1 Homeless vet housed and provided case manager for 3 months = $300

1 Homeless vet housed and provided case manager for 6 months = $600

1 First and security deposit for a low income veteran = $600

1st Annual Wayne Soares Veterans Golf Tournament To Benefit Homeless & Disabled Veterans

September 23, 2019:  1st Annual Wayne Soares Veterans Golf Tournament To Benefit Homeless & Disabled Veterans will be hosted by Falmouth Together We Can Inc. and played at TGC at Sacconnesset in North Falmouth.

Celebrities that have committed to playing so far include Red Sox Hall of Famer Rico Petrocelli, Bruins Hall of Famer Rick Middleton, New York Rangers Hall of Famer Nicky Fotiu, Former Red Sox Jim Corsi, CBS College Basketball Analyst Pete Gillen, Former Baltimore Colt Dan Sullivan, and WBZ CH4 Sportscaster Steve Burton.

Cost is $250 per player, $1,000 per foursome.  Cost includes a light lunch prior to golf, gift bags, and dinner after the tournament.  Check-in begins at 10:00 AM with a Shotgun start at 11:00 AM.  There will also be auction items and prizes available.

Together We Can Inc. will donate all proceeds to the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center and the Disabled American Veterans.  Together We Can, CIVOC and DAV are 501c3 non-profit organizations.

Newly Formed Alliance

The Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center (CIVOC) and The Golf Club at Sacconnesset (TGCS) are very proud to announce their new partnership.  TGCS has chosen CIVOC to run its annual TGC For The Troops golf tournament.  All proceeds from the tournament will go towards funding CIVOC’s mission to provide Cape Cod Veterans and their families with a comprehensive menu of the essential, life altering and life sustaining services which will empower them to achieve a lasting reintegration into the families and communities for which they have sacrificed.   

TGCS has established a legacy of giving within the community and is well known for its philanthropic endeavors in several other areas in addition to veteran causes.  The TGC Fund has been a fundamental source of support for veterans and their families all over Cape Cod raising $365,000 raised in the past 10 years.

This year’s member-guest tournament will be held at TGCS on 10 June 2019.  There is also a free veterans golf clinic for veterans of all eras on 9 June 2019.
