B/General, USAF, retired in 2003 after serving 41 years in the active, reserve and senior executive service as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Installations in the United States Air Force. His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Presidential Meritorious Executive Service Award. He is a graduate of the Citadel, and Texas A&M, and holds an Honorary Doctor of Public Administration from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He serves as a director of the Lower Cape Outreach Council, and the Cape Cod Council of Churches, and has given four years of service to the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center as a member-at-large on its Board of Directors. For decades following his retirement, and continuing to the present, General Dishner has given unselfishly of his time in support of veterans, and is passionately committed to continuing his service to veterans of all generations.
